We meet near JFK Dr and Chain of Lakes Dr. W., then explore the park’s nearby natural wonders including North Lake, Ocean Beach, and all the trails through the forest. 100% outdoor program includes story time, hiking, lunch (please bring a packed lunch and snack), outdoor free play, and activity time. Our classes are perfect for children who may be age eligible for transitional kindergarten (TK) or kindergarten but who would benefit from the outdoor time, movement, and sensory opportunities that our forest kindergarten provides. This window of childhood development is the ideal time for a child to learn sensory integration, social skills, emotional regulation, and gross motor skills. Once your child’s brain and body have been able to form a healthy foundation of these skills, the academic demands of the traditional school setting will be handled with greater ease and confidence. This sets your child up for success, not just for kindergarten and first grade, but into their adult life as well.
Flexible Daily Drop-in $50/day- make your own schedule!
$360/month for 2 days/week
$540/month for 3 days/week

We generally start children at age 3 years. If your child is 2.5 years old, we will consider enrolling after an initial trial day.
Potty learning in progress is ok, pull ups and/or ability to communicate potty needs is required.
Children should wear clothing that can get messy, including waterproof jackets, boots, and pants when there is wet weather.
*If purchasing waterproof clothing is a hardship, please inquire about our gear rental program!
Parents are welcomed and encouraged to participate in our programs. Volunteers can accompany their child on any day and are especially encouraged to join us on our field trip days. In order to be prepared there is a parent volunteer orientation which should be completed before volunteering.
We will hold a number of parent education meetings during the school year and all parents are invited and encouraged to attend these informational discussions.
Field trips to different local destinations are a fun and exciting part of our programs. We will visit Ocean Beach, Land’s End, The San Francisco Zoo, Lincoln Playground, the Academy of Science, the Randall Museum and others.
Our nature preschool program focuses on exploration of the natural world and making friends. The children participate in active free play and experience new sounds, scents, and sights, furthering the development of sensory integration. We read stories to inspire the imagination and allow plenty of time for childhood games. The teachers model friendly interactions and positive problem solving to guide the children in their play.
Our forest kindergarten program focuses mainly on active social play and opportunities to practice and refine gross motor skills. The teachers use their knowledge of child development to guide children towards appropriate challenges which promotes healthy development of a strong body and mind.
