SF city parks including GG Park, Presidio, and others
ages 3-6 years
Fall Session 2020
August 10th – December 18th
Please inquire about early drop off/late pickup if required

We meet at several San Francisco parks then explore the park’s nearby natural wonders and trails through the forest. Locations often include North Lake, Presidio, Sutro Heights, and Mountain Lake parks. 100% outdoor program includes story time, hiking, lunch (please bring a packed lunch and snack), outdoor free play, and activity time.
Our classes are perfect for children who may be age eligible for transitional kindergarten (TK) or kindergarten but who would benefit from the outdoor time, movement, and sensory opportunities that our forest kindergarten provides.
This window of childhood development is the ideal time for a child to learn sensory integration, social skills, emotional regulation, and gross motor skills. Once your child’s brain and body have been able to form a healthy foundation of these skills, the academic demands of the traditional school setting will be handled with greater ease and confidence. This sets your child up for success, not just for kindergarten and first grade, but into their adult life as well.

Preschool Forest School
$395/month for 2 days/week
Age Requirements
We generally start children at age 3 years. If your child is not yet 3 years old, we will consider enrolling after an initial trial day.
Potty Learning
Clothing
Children should wear clothing that can get messy, including waterproof shoes, jackets, boots, and pants when there is wet weather.
*If purchasing waterproof clothing is a hardship, please inquire about our gear rental program!
Parent Participation
We will hold a number of parent education meetings during the school year and all parents are invited and encouraged to attend these informational discussions.
Field Trips
Field trips to different local destinations are a fun and exciting part of our programs. We will visit Ocean Beach, Land’s End, The San Francisco Zoo, Blue boat Playground, the Academy of Science, the Randall Museum and others.

Forest School
ALG forest school preschool program focuses on exploration of the natural world and making friends. The children participate in active free play and experience new sounds, scents, and sights, furthering the development of sensory integration. We read stories to inspire the imagination and allow plenty of time for childhood games. The teachers model friendly interactions and positive problem solving to guide the children in their play.
Our small group of “forest schoolers” explores throughout the park. We enjoy active social play and opportunities to practice and refine gross motor skills naturally. The teachers use their knowledge of child development to guide children towards appropriate challenges which promotes healthy development of a strong body and mind.
